Early Years (Nursery & Reception)

Our Early Years’ Nursery and Reception curriculum adheres to British standards, enabling our young students to become lifelong learners. Our experienced and qualified team of teachers and teaching assistants follow a holistic approach: learning through play and sensory experiences. This method of teaching and learning has been proven to provide the things that a child needs to excel throughout the rest of their learning journey.

The TSI Early Years’ Centre is located on the first floor of our Primary School building. The Early Years' Centre offers an exciting and nurturing environment for our youngest learners.

Our Early Years’ programme ensures that children develop a strong foundation for their future schooling at our British International Primary School before moving to our British High School in Bangkok. Each year, graduates of our GCSE international school receive offers from universities all around the world.

FAQs

What age should children start school?

Generally, children should be 3 years old before entering our Nursery classes, although we will consider slightly younger students if teachers and parents feel that they are ready.

Parents should note that Nursery places are often filled by the children enrolled in our Pre-nursery (Little Lions) which is suitable for children aged 2-3 years.

What do Nursery and Reception children do each week?

Our Early Years’ children spend the majority of the week with their native-speaker homeroom teacher and Thai teaching assistants (TAs). Homeroom teachers are committed to preparing activities based on the TSI conceptual framework combined with the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) attainment targets.

Teachers create situations for children to explore and learn through play and by using their imaginations. During their time as Early Years students, children are encouraged to develop a strong foundation to become independent, life-long learners with a Reggio Emilio inspired approach to teaching and learning.

All Early Years' children also learn Thai Language and Culture and PE/Swimming with specialist teachers.

Do Nursery and Reception Children learn any other languages?

TSI currently includes over 30 nationalities, so we understand the importance that our Nursery and Reception classes provide an all-inclusive learning environment.

As we are a British international school in Bangkok, Thailand, children enjoy some Thai language activities each day in Nursery and Reception. They begin to learn a third-language when they move to Year 1.

If I need to move to a different country, will my children be able to transfer to a different curriculum after studying with TSI?

Studying at a British international preschool in Thailand means that your child will be able to transfer to the majority of schools worldwide. The British curriculum is the perfect place for students to begin their education if it is likely that they will move to another country.

How can your child join our Early Years’ Centre?

Parents should be aware that places in Nursery classes are in very high demand. In recent years, we have had a 'waitpool' for Nursery.
